Duncan resident arrested in relation to Bank of Montreal robbery

A 23-year-old Duncan resident has been arrested in relation to a robbery Tuesday morning at the Bank of Montreal in Ladysmith.

A 23-year-old Duncan resident has been arrested in relation to a robbery Tuesday morning at the Bank of Montreal in Ladysmith.

Ladysmith RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at the bank at about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday. A lone male entered the branch and demanded money from the teller, according to a news release from the RCMP.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken, and the male fled on foot.

The male is described as approximately 5’8″ tall, medium build, 20 to 30 years old and wearing black clothing.

Extensive patrols were made in the area; however, the suspect was not immediately located. Other RCMP agencies, including the North Cowichan/Duncan detachment, Police Dog Services and South Island Traffic Services, assisted in the patrols, and at about 6 p.m. Tuesday, the male was arrested.

The male is scheduled to appear in court today.
