Election 2014: McPherson re-elected in RDN Area A, Rogers in Area E

Alec McPherson has been re-elected to represent Area A on the Regional District of Nanaimo board.

Alec McPherson has been re-elected to represent Electoral Area A (South Wellington, Cassidy and Cedar) on the Regional District of Nanaimo board.

Based on preliminary results, McPherson beat out challenger Rosmy Jean Louis, taking 688 of a total 1,212 votes.

Based on last night’s unofficial numbers for Area E (Nanoose), Bob Rogers will replace retiring director George Holme on the regional district board.

Rogers received 687 of 1,446 total votes, while rival candidates Ed Mayne and Gordon Wiebe took 359 and 400 votes respectively.

Howard Houle, director for Area B (Gabriola and surrounding islands), and Maureen Young, director for Area C (Extension, East Wellington and Pleasant Valley), were acclaimed.

Voting numbers for the 2014 civic election will be made official on Wednesday (Nov. 19).
