Election forums get underway

This Thursday, Nov. 3, beginning at 7 p.m. candidates for the two Terrace seats and the one Thornhill seat on the Coast Mountains school board will be in the lecture theatre at Caledonia Senior Secondary School.

This session is sponsored by the school district’s parent advisory council.

Next Tuesday, Nov. 8, also starting at 7 p.m. and taking place at the REM Lee Theatre is the municipal all candidates forum with the five mayoral candidates and the 12 people running for six council spots.

This session is sponsored by The Terrace Standard with the assistance of the REM Lee Theatre, the Terrace and District Chamber of Commerce, Terrace Toastmasters and the Skeena Valley Rotary Club.

Northwest Community College president Dr. Denise Henning is the moderator, and the media panel which will ask questions of the candidates will be made up of representatives from The Terrace Standard, Astral Media and CFNR.

The session will also be televised live on CityWest’s Cable 10 service.

And on Saturday, Nov. 12, all candidates for all three entities are invited to an afternoon of discussion about making Terrace and area child and youth friendly.

This session is taking place in the former Northern Drugs space in the Skeena Mall and is hosted by the 24-hour Youth Centre Committee which is made up of a number of community groups, agencies and non-profit bodies.

The session begins at 1 pm.
