The process for November’s civic elections is officially underway in the North Okanagan.
Municipalities and regional districts are beginning to make nomination papers available for the Nov. 15 vote.
“The Village of Lumby 2014 general local election nomination documents are now available for pick up from the village office during regular business hours,” said Jeremy Sundin, director of finance.

Starting Tuesday, nomination papers can be picked up at Vernon city hall for mayor and the six councillor positions.
“Nomination papers must be filed between 9 a.m. Sept. 30 and 4 p.m. on Oct. 10, excluding statutory holidays and weekends,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, the city’s communications co-ordinator.
“There is a $100 refundable deposit on all nomination packages, and arrangements should be made with the chief or deputy chief election officer to pick up your papers at city hall office during regular office hours.”

Nomination papers will also be available Tuesday from the Regional District of North Okanagan for the five electoral areas.
In the District of Coldstream, there appears to be some interest in the election.
“I’ve had six packages picked up,” said Keri-Ann Austin, director of corporate administration, said of nomination papers.
Nomination packages in Armstrong are available at http://cityofarmstrong.bc.ca/content/2014-elections or at city hall.
“Picking up a package will significantly save on printing as the guides are included in the packages we provide,” said Natalie Garbay, Armstrong’s deputy corporate officer.
In Spallumcheen, nomination papers are available at the township office and at www.spallumcheentwp.bc.ca.
The City of Enderby will make nomination papers available starting Wednesday.
Lake Country residents can pick up nomination papers at the municipal office or they can be found at okanaganway.ca.
“If you are elected to office, you will be expected to serve a four-year term,” said Reyna Seabrook, Lake Country’s chief elections officer.
