Entries needed for Christmas parade

So far, only four entries have been received for Terrace parade on Dec. 1

THE TERRACE and District Chamber of Commerce has issued a last call for those wishing to enter a planned Christmas parade this Saturday.

“As of today I have four entries,” wrote chamber executive director Carol Fielding in an email note late yesterday.

“We don’t necessarily mean a float, it could be your company van decorated or a walking entry of your group or organization, anything goes as long as it is about the holiday season,” she added.

The chamber last week took up the challenge of organizing a parade.

“We are very fortunate this year to get the support of Nechako Northcoast’s traffic control crew that work for their Billabong division, this gives us the support we need on the street closures and the traffic control, very critical for the safety of everyone,” said Fielding.

She said the parade should have a minimum 15 entries to make it viable.

Those planning on entering have until Nov. 29 to contact Fielding at the chamber office.

Last year’s planned parade was canceled because of lack of entries.

But there are events going on at George Little Park this Saturday beginning at 6 pm.

Hosted by downtown merchants, there are plans for a mini-parade, family activities, music and hayrides.
