Event provides updates on biking plans

NANAIMO – Event offers updates on city's bicycling trail, engineering and planning programs and projects.

Learn about city’s existing and proposed bicycling trails, engineering studies and cycling planning at the 2015 Nanaimo Bike Information Night.

The event, organized by the Greater Nanaimo Cycling Coalition, happens at Beban Park Complex Thursday (Jan. 22) 7-9:30 p.m., and features updates about the E&N Trail extension, a new Nanaimo cycling map, the Bicycling Master Plan, Safe Routes to School, Bike to Work Week and more from the city engineering department, parks and recreation, the Nanaimo Regional Rail Trail Partnership and other organizations.

There is also a chance for cyclists and non-cyclists to present and listen to ideas and concerns about cycling in Nanaimo.

Cycling groups will make short presentations about their organizations and initiatives and bike retailers will showcase 2015 merchandise.
