COOL COLLAPSES

The World Trade Organization (WTO) arbitrator recently decided the United States has until May 23 to bring its Country of Origin Labelling (COOL) of livestock into compliance with its WTO obligations.

The government of Canada noted it has firmly sided with its cattle and hog producers against the “unfair” and “onerous” labelling practices for livestock exports to the U.S.

SCHOOLS SCORE BUSES

School District #27 (SD27) will receive $1.71 million from the province for the purchase of 16 new school buses.

Of these, six or seven will be used to replace current buses in the 100 Mile House area.

SD27 secretary treasurer Bonnie Roller says the district fleet currently has a total of 63 buses, in a mix of older and newer models. These vehicles are replaced and shared as needed throughout the district.
