Fentanyl among various drugs seized from Langford home

RCMP targets West Shore drug dealers during September

Fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine were among the drugs recently confiscated from suspected drug dealers and prevented from finding their way onto West Shore streets.

Last week West Shore RCMP arrested individuals in Langford they believed were intending to traffic these drugs and others.

Last Wednesday the detachment’s Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at a Langford home following a drug investigation. Cocaine, fentanyl, steroids, OxyContin, methamphetamine, scales, packaging materials and Canadian and U.S. currency were found inside the home.

A 31-year-old Langford man was arrested and has since been released with the promise to appear in court Dec. 15 in Western Communities Courthouse.

The day before this search, the unit also arrested a 43-year-old Langford man and seized a quantity of heroin. Police were recommending charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Earlier in September, members of the unit arrested two Langford men, age 24 and 21, with potential charges against each also relating to trafficking. The arrests led to the seizure of cocaine and methamphetamine and the two men have since been released from custody.

“The West Shore RCMP will be aggressively targeting those that traffic drugs in our communities,” said Cpl. Bryson Hill of the West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit in a release.

“The West Shore is a safe place with a family first mentality. Trafficking of any illicit drugs is not tolerated and police will be making extra efforts to target those individuals who are attempting to profit from the distribution of drugs.”

Police ask anyone with information about drug trafficking or other criminal activity on the West Shore to call the local detachment at 250-474-2264, or contact CrimeStoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.
