New eyes and ears for the Lumby RCMP detachment will soon be put to work.
The City of Vernon Safe Communities Unit, the Village of Lumby and the Lumby RCMP announce that the first official duties of the new Lumby Citizens Patrol (COP) will be a foot patrol on Halloween night.
“The community-based volunteer group has helped to minimize crime occurring throughout the North Okanagan for more than 20 years,” said communications coordinator Tanya Laing Gahr. “COP volunteers observe, record and report suspicious activities to police officers.”
