An ex-ski coach from Seattle accused of secretly recording female students undressing on a school trip to Silver Star Mountain Resort was indicted this week on five counts of child exploitation, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Jason Christopher Paur, 44, who is currently incarcerated in Canada pending his January trial on charges stemming from the alleged Silver Star incident, was arrested last December by the RCMP after female students from The Bush School in Seattle discovered a hidden camera in their bathroom.
The students notified chaperones who contacted police.
Paur pleaded not guilty to 10 counts in February. He is charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with three counts of secretly observing/recording nudity or sexual activity; three counts of break-and enter a dwelling with intent or commit; two counts of making or publishing child pornography; and one count each of accessing child pornography and possession of child pornography.
HSI’s investigation revealed Paur allegedly recorded students not only in 2013, but also during trips in 2012 and 2011.
The indictment alleges Paur used the pictures for his own sexual gratification and transported the pictures from Canada to the U.S.
The indictment further alleges that Paur traveled with the teens to Canada with the intention to film them for his own sexual gratification.
He is charged in the U.S. with production of child pornography with intent to transport; possession of child pornography; transportation of minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity; and two counts of production and transportation of child pornography.
Paur has since been fired by The Bush School, according to school officials who fully cooperated with the investigation. Paur also worked as a freelance journalist.
The charges contained in the indictment are only allegations. A person is presumed innocent unless and until he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
It is anticipated Paur will be turned over to U.S. authorities when he is released from Canadian custody.
