FVRD hosts open house in Mission Oct. 3

Residents' opinions sought for review of Regional Growth Strategy

FVRD hosts open house in Mission Oct. 3

The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) invites you to share your ideas, concerns, and vision for the region’s future at an upcoming open house.

The FVRD is conducting a review of the Regional Growth Strategy – a 30‐year and beyond vision for the future of the region. Under provincial legislation, the FVRD is required to conduct periodic reviews of its Regional Growth Strategy. The current strategy, “Choices for our Future,” was adopted in 2004 with support from all member municipalities. The review process will update the current Regional Growth Strategy to reflect new legislation, current trends, opportunities and challenges brought about by rapid population growth.

The FVRD is one of the fastest growing regional districts in British Columbia. By 2041, its population is expected to increase by as much as 60 per cent, which will put significant pressure on the region. Also, recent provincial mandates to

reduce greenhouse gas emissions could potentially influence policies on air quality, transportation, and other significant issues in the Fraser Valley.

The FVRD is looking for input on a broad range of topics including, the economy, housing, healthy living, transportation, and the environment.

The Mission open house happens Oct. 3, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Leisure Centre, 7560 Grand St.
