Registration is underway for the fifth annual multiple sclerosis golf tournament but space is still available for more teams.
The fight to end MS is personal for tournament directors Corinne and Al Jensen.
“I was diagnosed with MS on my 28th birthday,” said Corinne Jensen, who has been living with MS for more than 20 years. “It’s essential that the hundreds of people living with MS in our community know that they can depend on the MS Society to help enhance their quality of life.”
Through fundraising, the MS Society is able to provide support, information, educational events and other resources for people with MS and their families.
Multiple sclerosis is a complex and unpredictable disease affecting the central nervous system.
Often diagnosed in young adults between 15 and 40, MS also affects children. MS can affect vision, hearing, memory, balance and mobility. Its effects are physical, emotional, financial, and last a lifetime. There is no cure for MS.
Researchers supported by the MS Society are working to develop new and better treatments with the ultimate goal to find a cure for the disease.
The Texas Scramble golf tournament will be held on Wednesday (Aug. 21) at Nanaimo Golf Club. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $150.
