Two local schools have received provincial funding for playground upgrades.
C.E. Barry Intermediate School has been given $25,000 for repairs to the existing playground, while Coquihalla Elementary has $50,000 for “enhancing minimal equipment.”
The government recently provided $3.3 million for 80 schools across the province for playground repair, improvement or replacement. It is the final phase of an $8-million playground funding commitment made by Premier Christy Clark and Minister of Education George Abbott last September, bringing the total number of schools benefitting from the two-year program to 227 provincewide.
