Under the B.C. Rural Dividend, the government is providing $68,329 to Lumby.
The village will use the funds to assess underdeveloped private properties in the community. The project includes establishing terms of reference with partnerships, distributing requests for proposals to local developers and marketing the land.
“This grant will assist the village with a long-term plan aimed at economic development and growth,” said Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA.
The B.C. Rural Dividend program provides grants of up to $100,000 each for single applicants, and up to $500,000 for partnerships, to promote economic diversity while contributing to a community’s overall liveability and sustainability.
