North Ridge Elementary Grade 3 student Nina Johl took refuge along with her classmates beneath her school desk during The Great B.C. ShakeOut earthquake drill held Wednesday morning across the province. More than 420,000 people had registered to take part in the province-wide event aimed at teaching British Columbians what to do during a major quake.
Southwestern B.C. has a 30-per-cent chance of experiencing a significant earthquake within the next 50 years.
