Grocery store and Nadina fire update

Since the closure of Supervalu, the District of Houston council has been working diligently to bring a new grocery store to the community.

Since the closure of Supervalu in June 2016, the District of Houston council has been working diligently to bring a new grocery store to the community. The Houston council had hoped that shortly after the new year of 2017 a new grocery store would be here to replace the loss of Supervalu.

On Jan. 23 Houston Today contacted the District of Houston mayor inquiring about any new updates for a grocery store in town. Mayor Shane Brienen replied that at this time council is still working on the matter but do not have any new information.

The shocking fire of the Nadina Service Truck building, that occurred on Dec. 6, 2016 shortly after 1 a.m., is still being investigated.

On Jan. 26 Houston Today contacted the Houston Volunteer Fire Department about the cause of the Nadina building fire. TheHouston fire chief, Jim Daigneault, replied that he has not yet received the results of the report from the investigation.

Staff at Houston Today will continue to work with the District of Houston council and the Houston Volunteer Fire Department to keep the public updated.
