Two years after announcing he was leaving his position with the City of Penticton, Anthony Haddad is back.
Haddad is taking up his old job, director of development services, which he held from 2009 to 2014. The announcement from the city says news of his return has been well received by his colleagues at City Hall.
“Anthony proved himself to be a highly capable leader during his previous tenure in the position. There is a tremendous amount of enthusiasm across the organization as Anthony’s exemplary skills, experience and knowledge of the City will once again be a particularly beneficial asset. We are very fortunate to have someone with his abilities leading our development team,” said interim CAO Mitch Moroziuk.
Haddad came to Penticton in 2009 from a position at the City of Calgary, though he originally hails from Australia, where he obtained his degree in planning from the Royal Melbourne University. He left the City of Penticton’s employ in 2014 to take a position with UBC Okanagan as director of planning.

Some of Haddad’s accomplishments during is previous tenure with the city include process improvements and cost of service enhancements, and overall modernization of how the planning department conducts business.
“Anthony is very well respected by everyone here at City Hall and his peers in the development community and we are really excited to have him back. It will be great to have someone with his experience and local knowledge to help lead our development team at such a critical time for growth,” said Mayor Andrew Jakubeit.
Haddad begins work December 12. The director of development services position has been vacant since August of this year.
