Harcourt part of medical marijuana project

True Leaf Medicine has applied for a licence to grow and distribute medicinal cannabis from a facility in Lumby.

A former B.C. premier is endorsing plans for medical marijuana to be grown in Lumby.

Mike Harcourt is the new chairperson of True Leaf Medicine, which has applied to Health Canada for a licence to grow and distribute medicinal cannabis from a facility in Lumby.

“Mike Harcourt brings a wealth of expertise, knowledge and credibility to this pioneering enterprise,” said Darcy Bomford, True Leaf chief executive officer and the founder and former CEO of Darford International, a Vernon-based pet nutrition company.

“There is a real need for trustworthy sources of supply for physicians, and with Mike at the helm, we’re sending the message that we are serious about establishing that trust.”

Harcourt says True Leaf will directly address concerns about medical marijuana, such as safety and reliability, by providing laboratory tested, standardized strains of medicinal cannabis for specific ailments.

“By separating fact from folklore, True Leaf has an opportunity to fill in the knowledge gap for both doctors and end users when it comes to aligning a specific ailment with a documented cannabis remedy,” he said.
