Olympic medalist Brent Hayden and former Vancouver Canuck Trevor Linden will be in Mission for the Celebration of Champions event Feb. 15, held in conjunction with the District of Mission and upcoming 2014 BC Winter Games.
This event will be at the Winter Games event centre at Mission Raceway Park from 5 to 8:15 p.m. It gets underway with the Hungry Games food truck at 5 p.m., and Mission’s own Hayden will speak from 7 to 7:30 p.m. about achieving excellence.
Linden will take the stage from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and he will talk about success through teamwork and leadership. This portion of the night is a ticketed event, $20 in advance or $30 at the door.
The next day at the same venue, Mission Elks from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. are offering pancakes before the airing of the Olympic hockey game between Canada and Finland at 9 a.m. on the big screens at the Games event centre. Breakfast costs $5 with proceeds going to children’s charities. There is no charge to watch the Olympic hockey game.
The event centre is a 12,000 sq.-ft. heated venue can seat about 2,000 people and was provided by the District of Mission for the Games, which run Feb. 20-23.
