Ladysmith Primary School (LPS) hosted a Christmas store prior to the holidays, with all items being donated. Each family was asked to donate $3 for their child to shop as they wished. The $3 donations mounted to $380, and the LPS Parent Advisory Council chose the Ladysmith Food Bank as the beneficiary. • Avis and Doug Muir of Nanaimo want us to know “there really are Angels, and they all belong to the Yellow Point Singers!!”

“My husband and I are long-time members of the Yellow Point Singers,” Anne writes in a letter to the editor. “In late February, during a lovely walk in the snow with our dog, I fell and broke my ankle, which put me in a wheelchair for six weeks. This was challenging, as my husband has Parkinson’s and at times needs a lot of assistance himself. The choir quickly came to our rescue, bringing delicious meals three times a week ever since. It was a huge help, and we are incredibly grateful to all of our ‘Angels.’ They truly are community role models. We plan to send donations to the Ladysmith and Nanaimo food banks in recognition of The Yellow Point Singers’ caring and generosity. Please join us in supporting them at their concert Sunday, April 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Oceanview Community Church.”

She is still very much looking forward to the fundraising garage sale this Saturday (April 26) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of 420 Buller St. Many donations intended for the May 10 fundraiser, ranging from a truckload of wood to gift baskets, will be raffled off during the garage sale. Any donations and any help the day of the sale would be more than appreciated. For more information, call or text Young at 250-618-8344, or find her on Facebook.
