Herb baskets take root in downtown Lumby

The herb baskets have been installed as part of the Communities in Bloom program.

Lumby residents can add a little flavour to their diet by simply walking downtown.

The village has installed 40 baskets of herbs on green lamp poles throughout downtown.

“The herbs are free for the pubic to enjoy and as they grow, please feel free to help yourself to snippets,” said Coun. Randal Ostafichuk.

“Be respectful and take only what you need.”

The herb baskets have been installed as part of the Communities in Bloom program.

“The program is about people, plants and pride all growing together by providing a framework for enhancing community livability while inspiring communities to enhance their unique potential and celebrate their legacies and successes,” said Ostafichuk.

“It is a friendly competition between communities, engaging citizens of all ages, service groups, businesses and associations.”

This is the third year that Lumby has participated in Communities in Bloom and judges will be in Lumby July 21.
