A “significant quantity” of suspected heroin and cocaine was seized, along with cash and firearms, when Oceanside RCMP raided a suspected drug house Sunday in a Parksville subdivision.
A 59-year-old man living in the home was arrested and will appear in court in Nanaimo in April, RCMP said in a news release.
Following a detailed investigation, members of the Oceanside RCMP obtained a search warrant for the suspected drug house and entered the residence Jan. 15. A search revealed a significant quantity of suspected heroin and cocaine. In addition, $2000 in cash and two firearms were seized from the home as part of the investigation, RCMP said.
“I’m thankful to the general public for alerting us to this problem house,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Marc Pelletier said. “Whenever you have a suspected drug house in an area it is unsettling for nearby residents and the community as a whole.”
The accused has been released on a promise to appear in Nanaimo Provincial Court in April. Proposed charges include possession for the purpose of trafficking.
