Highway campaign brings results

Police and CVSE stage enforcement blitz in Blue River

On Thursday, June 23, Clearwater-Central Interior Traffic Services, McBride RCMP, Kamloops Roving Traffic Unit and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement officers joined forces for a traffic enforcement campaign in Blue River.

Over a few hours, police and CVSE officers dealt with a variety of violations resulting in eight speeding charges, three commercial vehicle charges, one seatbelt charge, three vehicle defect charges, two aggressive driving-related charges, seven written warnings, three minor drug seizures, and one seizure resulting in drug and weapons charges.

With the summer upon us and an increase in traffic volumes, police have noticed an increase in vehicle speeds and aggressive driving behaviours. Police remind the public to slow down and will step up enforcement and conduct a number of additional joint enforcement campaigns throughout the summer months.
