RCMP are advising residents to protect their dogs from the heat this summer.

With summer comes heat, and with the heat, people seem to leave more in their cars, including their dogs.

The RCMP have seen an increase in calls about dogs in cars, and officers are often dealing with multiple incidents in the same parking lot.

“Our vehicles are nice and cozy when the air conditioning is running, but become an oven when they sit in the sun,” said Const. Kris Clark, RCMP spokesperson.

“Leaving your dog or child in the car, even for a minute to run in to get something, can have devastating consequences. Don’t leave them in your car.”
