Upwards of 1,000 people attended a memorial service to remember Kassandra Kaulius, who was killed May 3 by another driver who was allegedly drunk.
A display at the front of the Christian Life Assembly church in Langley contained photos, a stuffed bear, pink high heel shoes, a softball jersey and glove, numerous medals and a grad photo with a single red rose.
As the family arrived each member placed a pink rose in a vase next to her photo.
The 22-year-old was driving home from a baseball game at Cloverdale Athletic Park May 3 when her red BMW was hit by a woman driving a van at 64 Avenue and 152 Street.
Kaulius was killed instantly.
About a half-a-dozen people spoke at Thursday’s service as they remembered what a magnificent and giving person Kaulius was. All spoke about the senselessness of her death and asked others to join in a pledge against drinking and driving.
A private service is scheduled for Friday.
