The provincial government sold about an acre of land on Hurd Street to a developer in 2013 for close to $1.07 million. VanMar Constructors bought the property to build Mission’s new Community Health Centre, and leased the facility back to community partners, such as Fraser Health, physicians and retailers.
The 27,000-sq.-ft. facility houses a range of health-related programs, such as a diabetes and seniors’ clinic, public health, and mental health. The facility opened last summer. The property, which was a part of the grounds of Mission Memorial Hospital, was part of the sale of 50-odd properties the government sold in the 2013-14 fiscal year, which netted the provincial treasury about $310 million. The list was released last month.
