The Interior Health Authority is preparing to look for new leadership.
President Robert Halpenny will resign in the fall to pursue other opportunities.
“It has been an absolute privilege to serve our residents in the Interior, and to support and lead the more than 20,000 staff and physicians who provide care to our patients, clients, and residents every day,” he said.
“While I will miss the role and especially the people I interacted with each day, it is time for me to pursue other opportunities and for a new CEO to lead Interior Health and our committed, passionate health professionals forward.”
Halpenny joined IHA as senior medical director in January 2007 and was appointed president and chief executive officer in January 2010.
The board will begin working with an executive recruiting firm to undertake a national search for a candidate.
