IT’S APRIL 19th today and that means it’s time for the 30th annual garbathon in Terrace and area.
Groups are meeting at McDonald’s beginning at noon to pick routes before heading out with gloves and garbage bags to pick up litter.
Litter pickup officially ends at 4 p.m. followed by a by-donation salmon barbecue in George Little Park.
The garbathon is meant to coincide with Earth Day which is, officially, April 22.
Sponsors are the Skeena WildConservation Trust, the Greater Terrace Beautification Society and the City of Terrace.
Collected garbage and items can then be returned to McDonalds for deposit into a large garbage skip.
Those taking part will also receive refreshment coupons from McDonald’s.
And those attending the barbecue are encouraged to bring their own plates and utensils.
