The jury that will decide Neil George Snelson’s guilt or innocence in the 1993 killing of Nelson’s Jennifer Cusworth has been chosen.
Jury selection was completed this week in Kamloops, where the manslaughter case will be tried at the end of the month. A change of venue was granted last year when it was decided that the case had fully saturated the Okanagan.
In 2011, Snelson stood trial in Kelowna on a charge of first degree murder in connection to the death of Jennifer Cusworth.
The jury convicted him of manslaughter, but Snelson successfully appealed for a new trial, arguing that Justice Alison Beames erred in allowing jurors to watch a certain portion of his videotaped police statement.
Snelson’s four-week trial begins on May 25.
Cusworth, 19, was found beaten and strangled in a ditch in Kelowna following a house party. She grew up in Nelson, where her mother was a school principal, and graduated from L.V. Rogers.
Snelson, now 47, was finally charged with her death in 2009.
