A photo dubbed “the most Canadian ever” will help raise money for Syrian refugees and the Kaslo arena.
In March, then-Kaslo RCMP Cpl. Shaun Begg was photographed playing pond hockey on a glacier in the Purcell Mountains while wearing Red Serge.
The image, taken by Rick Wiltse during an advertising shoot, appeared on the RCMP Twitter feed and quickly went viral.
Kaslo RCMP announced on Facebook on Christmas Eve that Wiltse has donated the photo, entitled Mountie and the Goalie, and prints will be sold to benefit Syrian refugees and help replace condensers at the Kaslo arena.
Begg, who has since been promoted to sergeant and transferred to Smithers, was quoted in the post as saying he is “thrilled refugees will benefit from his thrill-of-a-lifetime experience and hopes it further enhances Canada’s reputation on the world stage as a generous and welcoming country.”
