New exhibits and a variety of changes to the interior await history-lovers when the Ladysmith Museum opens its doors for the 2014 season this Saturday.
Volunteers have spent several months upgrading the interior space and making numerous changes to the museum, as well as adding new exhibits, curator Bernardien Knol explains in a press release.
“Come see our new display of a delightful miniature Victorian home with beautifully hand-made furniture and its many details,” she said. “See the new display cabinets with not-before-displayed items. Admire the new painted murals in our front windows on your way into our community museum and meet some of our many dedicated and friendly volunteers.”
As well, the Ladysmith Museum now sells postcards in its gift area.
A newly created space can be used by the community for temporary displays, highlighting local milestones. The first display is on the Morden Mine.
Knol encourages residents to bring their ideas for future exhibits to the museum.

There will be many special activities at the museum during opening day on Saturday, April 19.
Museum visitors can enter their name in a draw for a door prize, and children younger than 12 can enter their decorated bicycle or tricycle into a parade from noon until 2 p.m. and join in an Easter egg hunt.
The Ladysmith Museum is located at 721 First Ave. and will be open from Saturday, April 19 until Light Up Night in November.
The museum will be open Tuesdays to Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
“If you have not been to the museum before, this is the time to do it,” said Knol. “If you have visited us in the past, it may be a great chance to see all the changes made this winter. Ladysmith has a wonderful and exciting history which should be shared by all.”
