The Okanagan’s largest art show is receiving support from the federal government.
The Department of Canadian Heritage is providing $7,600 to the Lake Country ArtWalk, which runs Sept. 6 and 7.
“This grant enables us to include many local musicians and artists in our festival, ensuring that everyone attending ArtWalk will enjoy a rich and varied taste of our current creativity,” said Sharon McCoubrey, ArtWalk committee chairperson.
The festival showcases more than 400 fine and performing artists, and features 3,000 original works of art spanning many genres, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, quilting, photography and ceramics.
“Lake Country ArtWalk has been a community tradition for more than 20 years, drawing thousands of eager art lovers from B.C. and beyond,” said Ron Cannan, Kelowna-Lake Country MP, who asnnounced the federal funding.
“I look forward to exploring the wonderful creative works produced by our local artists and artisans again this year.”
