Liberal fundraiser, candidate Q&A happens Thursday in Colwood

Election activities in full swing on the West Shore

Residents in the Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke federal riding – which includes View Royal, Colwood and Metchosin – who are looking for ways to help elect a Liberal to parliament, may wish to check out a fundraiser event tomorrow (May 7) at the Kinsmen fieldhouse at West Shore Parks and Recreation Centre.

The event gets underway at 5:30 p.m. and includes a discussion by former longtime MP and cabinet minister David Anderson on environmental challenges for south Vancouver Island, and candidate David Merner will speak on issues relevant to the 2015 federal election.

The fundraiser will be followed at 7 p.m. by a town hall meeting led by former West Shore MP Keith Martin, now based in Washington, D.C. He will speak about health care and the political situation in Ottawa and Washington and will host a joint Q&A session with Merner.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $50 each or $35 for students. Register by calling 1-778-765-0047 or email bryan@davidmerner.com.
