Liberals rally in Winnipeg

Thirteen local delegates will attend the national conference in Winnipeg from Thursday to May 28.

North Okanagan-Shuswap will have a presence at the federal Liberal convention.

Thirteen local delegates will attend the national conference in Winnipeg from Thursday to May 28.

“We have a really strong contingent with a great deal of experience in everything from policy development to youth issues,” said Cindy Derkaz, riding association president.

Derkaz believes the convention will be of interest to local residents and particularly those in the Hullcar Valley because of a resolution calling for the development of a national water security strategy.

Other issues to be discussed are First Nations housing, climate change, poverty reduction, affordable housing and a sustainable clean energy strategy.

“This convention will set the tone and direction for government in the coming year,” said Derkaz.
