Local police continue to nab excessive speeders

Police report

100 Mile RCMP responded to 89 complaints and calls for service. Some highlights are attached.

On Aug. 7, 100 Mile Traffic Services stopped a vehicle for speeding. The vehicle was observed being operated at a speed of 156 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone on Highway 97 south of 100 Mile. The vehicle was impounded for seven days. The female driver from Prince George was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed.

Abandoned car

On Aug. 4, 100 Mile RCMP received a report of a vehicle that had possibly been abandoned behind Cedar Avenue in 100 Mile House. The license plate was checked and it was determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Calgary on July 30. The vehicle was a blue 1998 Nissan Sentra. The vehicle was seized and towed. Anyone having information about who was operating this vehicle around Aug. 1 is asked to call the 100 Mile RCMP or call Crime Stoppers.

Impaired driver

On Aug. 2, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver travelling south from Lac la Hache on Highway 97. The vehicle, a black GMC pickup truck, was located at the 108 Mile Ranch. The vehicle was stopped.

The female driver displayed signs of impairment. An approved screening device was administered roadside. The result was a fail.

The driver was detained and returned to the 100 Mile House Detachment where two breath samples were obtained of 140 and 130 mg per cent. Charges of impaired driving, driving over the legal limit and breach of undertaking are being recommended to Crown against a 44-year-old female resident of Hudson’s Hope, B.C.
