Water levels are holding up in Greater Vernon despite a dry summer.
As of Aug. 21, the level at the Duteau Creek storage reservoir was 117 per cent of average.
“Greater Vernon Water is tracking the latest climate information to help predict water supply for the remainder of the year,” said Emma Posluns, water sustainability co-ordinator.
“Environment Canada seasonal weather forecasts are indicating an increased likelihood of hotter than normal temperatures for August and September.”
Presently, stage one, or normal, water restrictions are underway. Residents are encouraged to follow conservation guidelines by watering between dusk and dawn, watering grass and not pavement and leaving grass two to thee inches tall.
“GVW will continue to monitor climate trends and water supplies,” said Posluns.
