Lone Butte VFD recruitment campaign successful

The Cariboo Regional District’s Lone Butte Volunteer Fire Department is no longer in danger of closing its doors

As a result of a successful recruitment campaign, the Cariboo Regional District’s Lone Butte Volunteer Fire Department (LBVFD) is no longer in danger of closing its doors.

Prior to the campaign, the department had 12 active members. Since Oct. 23, 30 applications have been handed out with 13 completed applications being received by the fire chief Jaret Scott.

The Lone Butte Horse Lake Community Association played an integral role in this recruitment process by undertaking an intensive telephone campaign on behalf of the LBVFD.

Folks who are interested in becoming a Lone Butte volunteer firefighter can contact Scott at 250-395-6665.

Although this is good news for the LBVFD, recruitment and retention are ongoing challenges for many regional fire departments.

All CRD volunteer fire departments are always looking for new volunteers to join the ranks.

Folks who are interested in volunteering can contact their local volunteer fire department chief for further details.
