Lumby’s Kineshanko named Woman of the Year

Five women were nominated for the Vernon Women In Business honour

A Lumby resident has been named Woman of the Year.

Joanne Kineshanko was named this year’s recipient of the honour during a gala hosted by Vernon Women In Business Thursday.

She thanked her family and especially her mother for, “being an amazing role model who raised me to give back.”

Owner of Kineshanko Logging, Kineshanko is a former mayor of Lumby and Regional District of North Okanagan director.

Among the organizations she has been involved in are Canadian Women In Timber, the Whitevalley Community Resource Centre and the Interior Logging Association.

She is a director with the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation and was co-chairperson of the Tower of Care fundraising campaign, which raised $7 million for equipment at the new Polson Tower at VJH.

Also nominated for Woman of the Year were Margit Schratter,  Patti Wood, Coleen Noel and Beth Marks.
