On Monday, April 11, Clearwater RCMP arrested a 20-year-old male for an attack that had occurred early Saturday morning, April 2, near the corner of Robson Street and Park Drive in Clearwater.
The suspect was identified late last week as a result of tips from the public. On Monday while police were continuing the investigation the suspect went into the Clearwater RCMP office. He was arrested, interviewed and released for court in June on conditions.
The suspect is a Clearwater resident and police do not believe there was a connection between him and the victim. Police are recommending charges of aggravated assault.
According to an earlier report, the victim had left a residence on Robson Street around 4 a.m. on April 2 and walked to Park Road where the attack occurred. Two females in the area observed an unknown male run across Park Road from the bush near the arena and punch the victim several times. He then ran off towards the hospital.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He underwent facial surgery and then recuperated at home.
