A man was taken to hospital in serious condition after he fell from a balcony early Sunday morning during a police investigation.
Around 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, police had been called to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of McKenzie Road in response to an argument involving a male and female.
When police arrived, they found the female in a third floor suite, but it appeared that the 26-year-old male had already left.
The police determined that a probation order stipulated that the man was not to have contact with the woman.
Two officers left to prepare the report documenting the breach of probation and request for charges, while one officer remained nearby in the event the man returned.
At 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, the man returned.
Police entered the suite and looked for the man, but he was not found inside.
Police searched the balcony, and spotted the man on the ground three storeys below.
They called for an ambulance and he was taken to hospital in serious condition.
