A man was discovered dead at a business in Abbotsford on Saturday.

The Abbotsford Police Department and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the cause of death of a man whose body was found Saturday morning at a business on Peardonville Road.

Const. Ian MacDonald said it will likely take a few weeks for the autopsy results to be complete.

An employee who arrived at the business – Tony’s Place Restaurant, located in the 31000 block of Peardonville Road – at about 6:30 a.m. noticed that a side door was damaged and that there was something strange about the interior accordion-style gate.

The woman then found an unresponsive man stuck under the gate, and she called police.

Officers who arrived on scene confirmed that the man was dead. He has since been identified as a 33-year-old man not from Abbotsford.

Police are not releasing his name nor his residence prior to his death.

MacDonald said police believe the incident was likely a break-in, and the man was not in any way connected to the business.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or text 222973 (abbypd).
