Oak Bay Sea Rescue members retrieved a boater from Mary Tod Island on Aug. 18 after the man became separated from his canoe. The man, who was wearing a life-jacket, had been attempting to swim to shore, but the tide pulled him further out to sea.
Luckily, the rescue group was training in the area and picked him up from the shore of the island, where he had drifted. The rescue team also retrieved the canoe.
