A Chilliwack man is dead after the dump truck he was driving crashed Thursday in Manning Park.

Princeton RCMP and the RCMP South Okanagan Traffic Services both attended the single vehicle crash, which happened on the morning of Nov. 3.

Just before 9 a.m. Thursday, Princeton RCMP and BC Ambulance Services were called to the crash, one kilometre west of the Cambie Creek Bridge brake check area. A grey 2007 Western Star dump truck was westbound when it left the roadway, crashing into an embankment. The driver, a 67-year-old Chilliwack man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred in an area where the roadway was straight, flat, with slippery and frosty surface conditions and temperatures near the freezing mark.

South Okanagan Traffic Services, based out of Keremeos, also attended the scene and are now leading the investigation alongside the B.C. Coroners Service, in an effort the cause of the crash and the man’s death.

RCMP have not released the identidy of the driver.
