A report of an alleged domestic dispute resulted in Lumby RCMP uncovering a small grow operation.
Officers attended to a residence on Birch Road Dec. 10 responding to a report of domestic violence, only to find the tenants had left the area.
“Police discovered a small, illegal marijuana grow-op and the plants were seized,” said Cpl. Henry Proce.
As part of the investigation, firearms and other weapons were turned over to police.
“It appears the weapons are stolen property and police continue to investigate,” said Proce.
Charges of assault, possession of weapons while prohibited and breach of conditions have been laid.
Once formal charges have been approved by Crown, names will be released, so the public can assist in locating those involved.
Two days later, police executed a search warrant at a residence on Grandview Avenue looking for firearms. Weapons were not located but a licensed marijuana grow operation was confirmed.
“Police subsequently had safety and fire inspectors attend because the electrical wiring presented a fire hazard to the home and potentially those nearby,” said Proce.
