Two Mission residents were arrested after Burns Lake RCMP executed a search warrant at a marijuana grow operation on a rural property approximately 25 kilometres east of the village on Highway 16.

A 46-year-old female and a 42-year-old man from Mission, along with men from Port Coquitlam and Smithers have been released on a promise to appear in Burns Lake provincial court Feb. 3.

Mounties’ search of the property revealed evidence of a grow op in an outbuilding, and police are saying the plants were harvested prior to the police arrival, but around 20 pounds of dried pot was seized.

Three rifles were also taken, and one was loaded.

RCMP will be recommending charges of possession of cannabis marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and production of a cannabis marijuana.
