Up to 20 centimetres of snow is expected today (Sunday) in the Fraser Valley, but is expected to change to rain overnight, according to Environment Canada.
The agency reports that the Arctic air that has been in the region for almost two weeks is being flushed out by milder Pacific air.
“For the Fraser Valley, the mild Pacific air will combine with below-freezing surface temperatures, resulting in snow becoming mixed with freezing rain tonight,” Environment Canada reports.
A complete change-over to rain is expected by Monday morning.
No further snow is forecast for the remainder of the week. The forecast calls for periods of rain throughout the week, with an average high temperature of five degrees during the day and three degrees overnight.
