A commercial transport truck from Langley was involved in a Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 21) crash that killed a Burnaby woman and her two young daughters.
The 36-year-old woman and her six and four-year-old girls were heading home from Calgary around 5 p.m. when their 2003 Suzuki SUV crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the tractor trailer on Highway 1 about six kilometres west of the Rogers Pass Summit.
Police said all three were killed instantly.
The crash happened on a straight stretch of road and investigators were not sure what caused the SUV to cross the centre line.
Police are not releasing the names of the victims at the request of their family.
The truck driver, who works for a company in Langley, was not injured.
The RCMP are requesting that any witnesses contact the Trans Canada East Traffic Services Unit in Revelstoke at 250-837-5255.
