Motorcyclists saddle up for rodeo

A different kind of rodeo will hit the North Okanagan this summer.

A different kind of rodeo will hit the North Okanagan this summer.

The competition is expected to be fierce at the Motorcycle Rodeo Games during the Sturgis North 2012 Music Festival and Bike Exposition, set for Spallumcheen’s MotoPlex Speedway and Event Park July 18-22.

If you have what it takes to be a motorcycle cowboy, you can join the competition and show off your maneuvering skills and riding techniques.

Try your luck in games such as Barrel Race, Slow Race, Keg Roll, Weinie Bite, Kick-Start Race and Balloon Toss.

Sturgis North says “the best of the best” will be organizing the Motorcycle Rodeo Games, the Motorcycle Cowboys, who will not only emcee and host the games, but will also perform burnouts and tricks on their bikes.

Games will start each day around noon and run for about three hours.

There is no entry fee to join the rodeo games but only participants with wristbands will be allowed to compete.

Trophies and a pig roast will conclude each day of competition.

Sturgis North will include classic rock bands, a biker build off, show and shines, poker rides, a trade show plus demonstrations, along with the rodeo games.
