A 66-year-old woman was mugged as she loaded groceries into her car last Friday evening outside of the Real Canadian Superstore on Lougheed Highway.
A male between 5’8” and 5’10” with a slim build wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans approached her and allegedly struck the woman on her arm, causing her purse to drop to the ground.
The male grabbed the purse and fled on foot.
The victim was shaken and upset but did not sustain any physical injuries.
Mission Mounties, along with the Lower Mainland District Police Dog Service, canvassed and searched the area but the man was not found.
“Personal safety is taking the necessary steps on knowing your surroundings,” said Mission RCMP Cpl. Sharon Siluch in a statement.
“Park in well-lit areas, scan the area while you approach your car and keep all personal belongings, such as a hand bags or purses, close to you and out of sight.”
