Multi-vehicle crash clogs Nanaimo Parkway

NANAIMO – One person sent to hospital following six-vehicle crash on Nanaimo Parkway on Monday.

A six-vehicle pileup on the Nanaimo Parkway brought southbound traffic to a halt Monday.

The accident happened at about 3 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the parkway on the north side of the Jingle Pot Road-Third Street intersection.

Several tow trucks were required to clear the wreck, which extended across both driving lanes and the intersection’s left turning lane and backed up parkway traffic for at least one kilometre.

Traffic was funnelled through the right turnout lane to get vehicles through the intersection.

Police said one driver was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with minor injuries.
